What are Contestable Works?

These works work previously only undertaken by the DNO however since privatisation of the electricity industry all new connections are now open under Competition in Connections and can now be undertaken by Independent Connection Providers (ICPs)
ICPs are able to quote & carry out design, civil works, Cable laying/jointing installation, substation installation & test & commissioning
All ICPs have to be registered & accredited by NERS

Who are NERS?

NERS is the National Electricity Registration Scheme who are administered by Lloyds Register on behalf of the national Distribution Network Operators (DNOs)
To allow Contractors to carry out contestable works they are required to be accredited by this scheme

Fees:

There are two stages of fees, as detailed below

Design:

To provide a full Lv design we will request relevant information & drawings from you.
Upon receipt of drawings we will provide you with a quotation for the Design fee.

Connection Works:

Upon acceptance of the Design and on receipt of written instructions to NDC, a quotation for the works will be raised based on the accepted design.

Payment Terms:

All fees are payable in advance

Design Fees:

On acceptance of the quotation for Design an invoice will be submitted;
Payment is required immediately;
No design works will be carried out until payment is received.

Connection Works:

On acceptance of the quotation for the works an invoice will be submitted;
Payment is required immediately;
No works will be carried out until payment is received.
